Position Summary The Food & Beverage Operations Supervisor is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing evening restaurant and bar operations at the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club.

The successful candidate will work scheduled serving shifts while supervising the dining room, supporting the service team, monitoring labour costs and ensuring members and guests receive qualified and welcoming service.

This position reports to the General Manager and works closely with the kitchen team, Bar Captain, serving staff and event staff.

Key Responsibilities

Dining Room and Guest Service

- Work as a server during scheduled shifts.
- Oversee the dining room and bar during evening operations.
- Ensure members and guests receive prompt, friendly and professional service.
- Assign server sections, side duties, opening duties and closing duties.
- Support staff during busy periods and assist wherever required.
- Respond to customer concerns and resolve service issues professionally.
- Ensure the dining room, bar, deck and service areas are clean, organized and ready for service.
- Complete or supervise restaurant closing procedures.

Staff Scheduling and Labour Management
- Prepare and maintain the front-of-house staff schedule using 7shifts.
- Arrange coverage for absences, vacations and special events.
- Monitor staffing levels and labour costs based on reservations, expected business and actual sales.
- Adjust staffing levels when necessary and with management approval.
- Ensure employees clock in and out correctly.
- Review timekeeping information and report discrepancies to the General Manager.
- Help train, coach and support serving and bar staff.
- Communicate performance, attendance or conduct concerns to the General Manager.

POS, Menu and Restaurant Systems
- Enter and update menu items, pricing, modifiers and promotions in TouchBistro.
- Ensure daily specials,



sold-out items and menu changes are accurately communicated to staff.
- Assist with menu updates and the preparation of printed menus when required.
- Enter and maintain appropriate information in MarketMan.
- Assist with food and beverage cost tracking, sales reports and other operational reports.
- Ensure discounts, voids, promotions and staff meals are recorded correctly.

Bar and Inventory Oversight
- Oversee and support the Bar Captain.
- Ensure bar ordering, stocking and product rotation are completed properly.
- Confirm that monthly bar inventory counts are completed accurately and on time.
- Monitor bar inventory levels, shortages, waste and unusual variances.
- Ensure liquor, beer and wine are stored securely.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service procedures and all applicable liquor regulations are followed.
- Confirm opening and closing bar procedures are completed.

Events and Functions
- Oversee front-of-house preparation and setup for weddings, member functions, races, pub nights and other events.
- Review event requirements, floor plans, staffing needs and timelines with management.
- Ensure tables, chairs, linens, place settings, bar stations and service areas are properly prepared.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and event staff during functions.
- Supervise event service and ensure cleanup and closing duties are completed.

Communication and Administration
- Review reservations, special requests, group bookings and upcoming events.
- Conduct brief pre-shift meetings and communicate specials, shortages,



events and service expectations.
- Maintain transparent communication between the dining room, bar, kitchen and management.
- Complete shift notes and report customer concerns, staffing issues, maintenance problems or incidents to the General Manager.
- Assist with ordering and receiving restaurant and bar supplies when required.
- Complete other related duties that support the successful operation of the Club.

Qualifications and Skills
- Previous serving and front-of-house restaurant experience.
- Supervisory or shift-lead experience is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to lead staff while also working as part of the service team.
- Comfortable using, or willing to learn, TouchBistro, MarketMan and 7shifts.
- Understanding of scheduling, labour control, cash handling and inventory procedures.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during busy service periods.
- Experience with event setup and service is considered an asset.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends and special events.
- Current responsible alcohol service certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Employment Terms This is initially a seasonal position, normally scheduled Wednesday through Sunday from approximately 3:00 p.m. until closing. Hours may vary depending on business levels, special events and operational needs.

The continuation or extension of the position beyond the seasonal period will be reviewed based on restaurant sales, operational requirements and year-end business levels.

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30.0 per week
