Island Bagel and Bannock is seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused individual to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys engaging with customers and supporting a small, Indigenous-led business that celebrates culture and community through food.

About the Role

You will provide exceptional customer service while handling a variety of tasks, including preparing food and drinks to order, packaging baked goods, and assisting with catering order fulfilment. You will play a key role in creating a welcoming environment for our customers and ensuring smooth operations. Regular availability on Saturdays and during the afternoons is a requirement for this role.

Responsibilities

- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their orders.
- Process payments accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Preparing hot and cold beverages, sandwiches, soups, and salads to order
- Package and display baked goods and other products, food prep, cleanup.
- Provide information about our menu items, including bagels, bannock, and catering services.
- Ensure the front counter and seating area are clean and organized.




- Assist with catering order pickups and communication with catering clients.
- Completing daily closing procedures with efficiency.

Qualifications

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, qualified, and able to work well under pressure.
- Availability Saturday and afternoons during the week.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and closing out the cash register.
- Food Safe.
- Prior cafe experience is an asset but not required.
