Front of House Supervisor

Position Summary
The Front of House Supervisor is a key member of the Moxies leadership team, responsible for supporting the successful day-to-day operation of the restaurant and delivering an exceptional guest experience. Working alongside the management team, the FOH Supervisor provides hands-on leadership during service, supports and coaches team members, maintains Moxies standards, and helps ensure the restaurant operates efficiently, safely, and professionally.
This is a leadership position suited to someone who leads by example, communicates confidently, remains composed in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Support
- Lead by example and consistently demonstrate Moxies hospitality and service standards.
- Provide direction and support to servers, bartenders, hosts, support staff, and other FOH team members.
- Assist managers with running daily restaurant operations and coordinating the floor during service.
- Help organize sections, breaks, cuts, side duties, and closing responsibilities.
- Coach team members in the moment and provide clear, respectful feedback.
- Help create a positive, professional, accountable, and team-focused work environment.
- Support the training and development of new and existing team members.
- Communicate operational concerns and employee performance issues to management.
Guest Experience
- Maintain a strong presence on the restaurant floor and actively engage with guests.
- Ensure guests are greeted promptly and receive attentive, professional service.
- Monitor service standards, food and beverage delivery times, table maintenance, and overall guest satisfaction.
- Identify potential guest concerns before they escalate.
- Assist with guest complaints and service recovery, involving a manager when appropriate.
- Support the team in creating memorable guest experiences and building guest loyalty.
Service & Operational Standards
- Ensure Moxies service standards and operating procedures are consistently followed.
- Monitor restaurant cleanliness, organization, presentation, and readiness throughout the shift.
- Complete opening, shift-change, and closing duties as assigned.
- Conduct regular floor walks and identify operational opportunities.
- Ensure server stations, host areas, bar areas, dining rooms, washrooms, and guest-facing areas remain clean and organized.
- Support proper communication between Front of House and Back of House teams.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate staffing levels and adjusting floor deployment as business levels change.
- Support smooth execution during high-volume periods, large parties, special events, and peak services.
Food & Beverage Standards
- Maintain strong knowledge of Moxies food, beverage, feature, and promotional offerings.
- Support menu knowledge, menu touring, suggestive selling, and beverage sales.
- Ensure food and beverages are delivered according to Moxies standards.
- Reinforce proper seat numbers and help prevent food auctioning.
- Monitor responsible alcohol service and ensure provincial liquor regulations and Moxies policies are followed.
- Ensure appropriate identification procedures are followed for alcohol service.
Cash & Administrative Responsibilities
Depending on training and authorization, the FOH Supervisor may:
- Assist with POS-related issues.
- Complete cash-outs and review server/bartender checkouts.
- Assist with cash handling procedures.
- Support opening and closing administrative duties.
- Complete shift notes, checklists, and operational documentation.
- Communicate maintenance, staffing, inventory, and operational concerns to management.

A Moxies FOH Supervisor is expected to:
- Lead from the floor — remain visible, engaged, and available to the team.
- Lead by example — demonstrate the standards expected from others.
- Coach, don't just correct — help team members understand how to improve.
- Take ownership — identify problems and help resolve them rather than waiting for someone else.
- Stay composed — maintain professionalism during busy or challenging situations.
- Communicate clearly — provide accurate and respectful direction to team members.
- Support the entire restaurant — understand that great guest experiences require solid FOH and BOH teamwork.
- Protect the guest experience — recognize and address service issues quickly.
- Maintain accountability — ensure standards, policies, and assigned responsibilities are followed consistently.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience required.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is an asset.
- Strong understanding of restaurant service and guest hospitality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to confidently lead and coach a team.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions in a high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, presentation, and operational standards.
- Must demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and accountability.
- Must meet all provincial requirements for responsible alcohol service where applicable.
Physical & Scheduling Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, opening shifts, and closing shifts as required.
