Overview:
We are seeking a skilled handyman/woman to assist with general maintenance and repairs in respect of a number of properties located in Calgary, Alberta and the vicinity. This would be a contract position aimed at engaging with a key person to be the "go to" anytime that any of these properties needs maintenance and/or repairs or upgrades/renovations. Hours will vary based on need and so you must have some flexibility in your own availability subject to emergency call-outs.
Responsibilities
- Support in completing maintenance, repairs and/or customary upgrades/renovations of homes located across Calgary, Alberta and vicinity.
The first project will be the upstairs and downstairs of a house located in SE, Calgary, Alberta. We are getting it ready for short term rental and therefore need some wall repair, flooring repair, painting etc.
- Be available generally to assist subject to your own schedule and emergencies that may arise for tenants.
- Be professional, respectful and courteous when dealing with tenants at each of these properties.
- Identify and resolve issues related to electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Perform general carpentry tasks such as repairing or replacing doors, windows, screens, fencing, decks etc.
- Perform general electrical, plumbing and/or HVAC tasks such as troubleshooting electrical issues or helping clear drain obstructions etc.
- Install, move, repair, maintain appliances such as refirdgerators, washers, dryers, and dishwashers etc. In some cases, we will simply replace these appliances with other ones rather than seek to repair them.
- Paint walls, ceilings, and other surfaces as needed.
- Past experience working with drywall, tiles, vinyl plank etc.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas.
- Collaborate with property owner to complete projects efficiently and professionally.
- Own,
possess and be knoweldgable in the secure use of tools necessary for the particular job including electrical tools.
Skills
- Past experience as a handyman/handywoman or similar role. This does not need to be formal "on-the-job" experience. Instead, it could be significant experience in your past working on your own properties or those of friends.
- Solid knowledge of general maintenance procedures and techniques.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and find effective solutions
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail to ensure high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills to interact with property owners and tenants.
