POSITION: Guidance Teacher - temporary
ASSIGNMENT: General, Resource (Gr 10-12). Teacher is responsible for supporting students toward graduation by meeting the Provincial Graduation Requirements for the 10-12 Graduation Program. This position includes scheduling students, ensuring students have the correct courses and number of credits toward graduation, supporting students with post-secondary applications, transcript application through the BC Transcript Service, and supporting students toward academic success.
This position also has 0.4 FTE Behaviour Resource attached to it.

LOCATION: Correlieu Secondary School
EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing September 1, 2026 until June 30, 2027, or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent, with the possibility of extension and/or reduction in FTE.
Basic Qualifications: A successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch AND possess one or more of the following:
Training Specialization: Secondary Education with a specialization in Special Education
Related Teaching Experience: Recent successful experience as a Resource Teacher A Reasonable Expectation: based on a teacher's skills, abilities, career development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.
Additional Qualifications:
Two or more courses at the 300 or 400 level in Special Education

Guidance Teacher
- Monitor graduation requirements of students
- Support planning that allows access to the curriculum for all students
- Ability to lead teams, liaise with outside agencies, and maintain extensive records of meetings
- Collaboratively develop and assess programs and Competency Based IEPs for students with a variety of behavioural needs
- Communicate with students and families regarding attendance and credits
- Support course completion through finding supports for students
- Work with Support Block teachers to monitor attendance
- Willingness to work as a member of the School Based Team, facilitating communication and coordinating services and resources through the CSS School Based Team.
- Support students in navigating transitions, including post-secondary applications, the BC Transcript service, Education Planner BC
- Coordinate post-secondary school visits
- Work collaboratively and in a consultative manner with classroom teachers, principals, the School Based Team, and Youth Care worker staff
The annual Salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $64,901 to $116, 190 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
