About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and knowledgeable Head Strength & Conditioning Coach + Sport Scientist to join our growing performance team in Nanaimo, BC.

With the number of teams and athletes we are working with continuing to expand, we are looking for someone who can help lead, develop, and implement our strength, conditioning, and sport science programs across multiple teams.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of athlete development, contribute to a high-performance environment, and help build a comprehensive performance system in Nanaimo.

Key Responsibilities





- Lead the design and delivery of strength & conditioning programs across multiple teams and age groups.
- Work closely with coaches to align physical preparation with team and sport-specific demands.
- Assist with athlete testing, monitoring, and performance assessments.
- Apply sport science principles to training, recovery, workload management, and athlete development.
- Track and analyze athlete performance data to inform training decisions.
- Develop individualized programs for athletes based on their needs, goals, and performance profiles.
- Collaborate with coaching staff to establish consistent performance standards across teams.
- Support injury prevention and return-to-performance processes in collaboration with relevant practitioners.
- Educate athletes and coaches on strength training, recovery, nutrition, workload, and performance.
- Help establish and continually improve our performance department's systems, processes, and standards.

QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Strength & Conditioning, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sport Science, or a related field.
- Relevant experience working with athletes in a strength & conditioning or sport performance environment.
- Strong understanding of exercise prescription, athlete development, testing, and performance monitoring.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, athletes, and support staff.

Strong Assets




- Master's degree in Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications in strength & conditioning or sport science.
- Experience working across multiple teams or sports.
- Experience with athlete monitoring, testing, GPS/load data, or performance technology.
- Experience developing and implementing long-term athletic development programs.

The ideal candidate is someone who can balance hands-on coaching with the analytical side of sport science and who wants to play a key role in building and growing our performance department.

You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple teams and priorities, and collaborating closely with coaches to get the best out of our athletes.

Compensation & Benefits

- Probationary period: $32/hour
- Post-probation salary: $72,000–$76,000 annually
- Final salary will be determined based on education, qualifications, and relevant experience
