Role Description The Heavy Duty Trailer Mechanic is responsible for assembling, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy haul trailers to meet Aspen’s quality and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include performing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs, completing preventive maintenance, and conducting detailed inspections on brakes, axles, suspensions, lighting, and coupling systems. The role also involves reading and interpreting technical drawings, using hand and power tools and welding equipment, and documenting work performed in accordance with company procedures.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Canada,



working collaboratively with production and engineering teams to ensure trailers are built and serviced to specification.

Qualifications

- Robust mechanical aptitude with experience working on heavy duty trailers, trucks, or heavy equipment.
- Skilled in trailer systems, including brakes, suspensions, axles, hydraulics, and electrical/lighting components.
- Proficiency using hand and power tools; welding and fabrication experience is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and work orders.
- Understanding of safety practices, quality standards, and relevant regulations for heavy haul equipment.
- Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail in diagnostics and repairs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Previous experience as a trailer mechanic or heavy duty technician; trade certification or apprenticeship in a related field is an asset.
- Physical ability to perform manual work, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in various shop conditions.
- Basic computer or mobile device skills for recording work, parts usage, and maintenance records.
