Role Description The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy trucks, light-duty vehicles, and related equipment to ensure safe, productive operation. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and hydraulic issues, completing repairs in both mobile and shop environments, and documenting all work performed in accordance with company and regulatory standards.

The mechanic will collaborate with service coordinators and fleet partners, prioritize repair schedules, and maintain a clean, organized work area. This is a contract position. It is a hybrid role based in Calgary, AB, with work performed at client sites, the shop,



and some tasks such as documentation and scheduling completed from home.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance for heavy trucks and light-duty gas and diesel vehicles.
- Candidates should possess proven abilities in Equipment Repair and Heavy Equipment servicing, including mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.
- Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues efficiently and recommend safe, cost-effective repair solutions.
- Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship as a Heavy Equipment Technician or Automotive/Truck and Transport Mechanic is preferred.
- Experience working with mobile service units and in-shop repair environments is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders, with strong attention to detail and safety standards.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to travel locally within Calgary for on-site service calls.
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work setting.
