Job Title: In-Home Elementary Educator (Grades 2 & 5) – Ontario Curriculum & Christian Lessons
Location: Oakville, ON (In-Home)
Job Type: Part time
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM (~27.5 hours/week)
Rate: $140 per day ($25.45 per hour)
Start Date: September 2026
Tutorville Learning Center is assisting a local private family in Oakville with candidate screening for an in-home educator position. The educator will work directly in the family's home.
About the Family
They are seeking a patient, passionate, organized, and reliable In-Person Homeschool Educator / Elementary Tutor to work with their three children starting September 2026 at their home in Oakville, Ontario.
The family utilizes an Ontario Elementary Curriculum alongside faith-based / Christian lessons and values, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable implementing and teaching these specific learning materials.
The family includes 7-year-old twins entering Grade 2 and a 9-year-old entering Grade 5. They are looking for an educator who genuinely loves working with children, is able to manage both grade levels effectively, and can create a warm, engaging, and structured learning workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging daily lessons for Grade 2 and Grade 5 subjects (focusing on Language Arts & Math).
- Manage instructional time across both grade levels effectively in a structured home setting.
- Adapt learning strategies and pacing patiently to support diverse learning styles and specific educational needs.
- Keep learning engaging, creative, and interactive to foster curiosity and confidence.
- Monitor academic growth and communicate regularly with parents regarding progress.
Qualifications & Requirements
- OCT Status (Preferred): Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) status or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) preferred.
Candidates with equivalent professional tutoring and child development backgrounds will also be considered.
- Teaching/Tutoring Experience: Direct experience teaching or tutoring primary/junior elementary grades (Grades 1–6 required). Experience with homeschool environments is a strong asset.
- Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC): Must be willing to obtain a clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check and provide professional references.
- Differentiated Learning: Proven experience supporting diverse learning needs and adapting lessons patiently.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Strong familiarity with the Ontario Elementary Curriculum.
- Key Attributes: Reliable, excellent communication skills, patient, energetic, genuine empathy, respectful, adaptable, preparedness and positivity.
- Location & Commute: Must have reliable transportation to Oakville, ON.

1. Are you an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) or do you hold a degree in Education, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field?
2. Do you have direct experience teaching or tutoring elementary students in Grades 2 and 5?

4. Are you able to commute to the Dundas Street East area in Oakville, ON for in-person, Monday–Friday (10:00 AM – 3:30 PM)?
5. Are you able to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check and professional references upon request?
