Position Overview:

This full-time position, under the direction of the Program Manager, is a frontline outreach role that provides one-on-one housing and tenant support. The goal is to support transitions to safe, stable housing by focusing on housing attainment and retention, system navigation and wraparound support. This role also emphasizes building connection to culture, community and a strong foundation for long-term housing stability and wellness.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct intakes and assessments to determine housing needs, priorities and appropriate supports
- Assist participants in finding and securing appropriate housing based on assessment outcomes and participant needs and preferences
- Support participants with housing readiness, including budgeting, tenancy education, and obtaining vital documents and services
- Provide ongoing housing stabilization and eviction-prevention support, including addressing tenancy concerns and connecting participants with cultural, health, financial, recovery, and other supports needed to maintain long-term wellness and housing stability
- Encourage and support connection with Elders, ceremony, land-based practices and cultural community events
- Support with landlord-designate responsibilities for Miywasin-managed housing, including tenant selection and onboarding, lease and tenancy documentation, tenant communication, tenancy concerns, inspections, notices, move-ins and move-outs, and coordination with maintenance and administrative staff
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with landlords, property managers and community partners to increase housing opportunities and support successful tenancies
- Maintain accurate client and tenant files, timely case notes, data and reporting
- Participate and support internal wellness practices,



cultural learning opportunities and Miywasin community events
- Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and qualities for success in this role:

- Strong interpersonal, communication and de-escalation skills
- Good understanding of trauma-informed care and anti-oppressive practice
- Sound judgment, qualified boundaries and the ability to navigate complex situations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Qualifications:

- Degree in Social Work, Addictions & Mental Health or related field preferred. Diploma and relevant experience will also be considered
- Deep understanding and knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories and perspectives, with demonstrated commitment to Indigenous rights and reconciliation
- Knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and anti-oppressive practice
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and addressing complex social issues such as homelessness, poverty, intergenerational trauma and mental health
- Standard First Aid – Level C CPR (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license, able to provide clean driving abstract and access to reliable vehicle
- Transparent criminal record check (with consideration given to context and relevance) and clean child intervention record check required prior to employment commencing

Schedule: Primarily day shifts with some evening and weekend availability as needed
