HR Generalist

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

MWM Environmental is looking for an experienced and approachable HR Generalist to support our growing Manitoba operations.

Based in our Winnipeg office, this role will be the primary day-to-day HR resource for employees and leaders across Manitoba. You will work closely with operational leaders while partnering with Corporate HR to support recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, performance management, benefits and leave administration, HR systems, and workplace policies.

This is a outstanding opportunity for an HR qualified who enjoys being close to the business, building strong relationships with employees and leaders, and managing a broad range of HR responsibilities in a fast-moving operational environment.

What You’ll Do

As our HR Generalist, you will:

- Serve as the primary HR contact for Manitoba employees and leaders, providing day-to-day HR guidance and support.
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and employee documentation for hourly and salaried positions.
- Support employee relations and performance management, including fact-finding, documentation, coaching, and follow-up.
- Coordinate perks, leaves of absence, accommodations, return-to-work processes, and WCB matters in partnership with Corporate HR.
- Maintain accurate HRIS and employee records, including job changes, compensation updates, training, and leave information.
- Support the implementation of HR policies and ensure practices align with Manitoba employment legislation.
- Prepare workforce reports and HR metrics such as headcount, turnover, vacancies, absenteeism, and training compliance.




- Partner with Operations, Safety, Payroll, and Corporate HR to support employees and business needs across Manitoba.
- Build strong relationships with site leaders and periodically travel to Manitoba operating locations.

What You Bring

- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of HR experience in a generalist, coordinator, or similar HR role.
- Experience supporting recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, advantages and leave administration, HRIS management, and policy implementation.
- Working knowledge of Manitoba’s Employment Standards Code, The Human Rights Code, and Workers Compensation Board requirements.
- Good understanding of HR practices across the employee lifecycle.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with frontline employees, supervisors, managers, and senior leaders.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when an issue requires further guidance or escalation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR information systems. Dayforce experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication and collaboration with Corporate HR.

Nice to Have

Experience in any of the following would be an asset:

- Supporting a multi-site or geographically dispersed workforce.
- Waste management, environmental services, transportation, industrial, or other field-based operations.
- Working within a business unit supported by a centralized or corporate HR team.
