This role is ideal for someone who enjoys patient care, teamwork, and supporting physicians and nurse practitioners in a busy but welcoming clinic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome, check-in, and prepare patients for appointments
- Perform vital signs, height, weight, BMI, waist circumference, and urinalysis
- Perform phlebotomy/venipuncture: collect blood specimens, label samples accurately, and follow laboratory handling protocols
- Assist with injections (vaccines, B12, medications) within scope and under medical directives
- Support ECGs, swabs, rapid tests,
point-of-care testing, dressing changes, and other clinical procedures as trained
- Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms
- Support referrals, e-faxing, patient follow-ups, and EMR documentation
- Provide front desk support, scheduling, and patient communication
- Maintain confidentiality and follow PHIPA and infection prevention standards
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in family practice, primary care, community clinic, or ambulatory care preferred
- Phlebotomy/venipuncture experience is an asset
- Strong patient communication and compassionate bedside manner
- Professional, organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable with technology and EMR systems (Juno EMR experience is an asset)
- CPR Level C/BLS certification (or willingness to update)
- Medical Office Administration/Assistant training or relevant healthcare experience preferred
