Industrial Sales Representative — Vancouver / Lower Mainland
Coatings, Safety & Industrial Supply
We're looking for a hunter, not an order-taker.
We're not a paint distributor. We're a service company that happens to sell paint.
That's not a slogan — it's the reason we exist. We win by making our customers more productive and cutting their operating costs, with products that genuinely outperform what they're using now.
It's working. Three locations across Western Canada, a fourth opening this month, and now the Lower Mainland — because customers keep asking us to be closer to them.
We need one person to build the industrial territory here from the ground up. If you know your products and you're tired of servicing an account list somebody else built, read on.
What you'd be selling
Whatever solves the customer's problem.
We sell industrial coatings, industrial supplies, safety products and specialty items — and we're not limited to any of it. If a customer needs something we don't carry, we go find it. We want to be their partner, not their paint vendor.
The anchor is our industrial coatings line, and we hold exclusive Western Canada rights to it. Every trial we've run, it has beaten the incumbent product on application, finish quality, ease of use for the painters, and price. We're displacing brands customers have used for forty years.
When our primer wasn't price-competitive, we went back to the manufacturer with the dry time and price point we needed, and they built it for us. That's the kind of supplier relationship we have.
How we work
We find solutions.
That's the job. A customer has a problem — a coating that's failing, a process that's too slow, a product costing them more than it should. We figure out what actually fixes it. Sometimes that's something on our shelf. Sometimes we spend three months hunting for it. Once, we went back to a manufacturer and had them build a product to our customer's spec.
We win by increasing our customers' productivity and performance while lowering their operating costs.
That's the whole business.
No contracts, no pre-bates, no rebate deals. No supplier of ours will ever own our customers — even when it costs us margin. If a customer stays with us, it's because leaving would cost them something real.
The job
- Build the Lower Mainland industrial territory from zero — manufacturers, fabricators, energy, marine, anyone spraying at scale
- Run technical trials end to end: understand the process, recommend the system, follow it through application and feedback. They take about two months. That's the business
- Own the territory. You'd be first on the ground and it would be yours to build
What we're looking for Real technical knowledge — from either side of the counter.
We care far more about what you know than about your job title. Our people have come from the shop floor and from thirty-year sales careers. What they have in common is that they know their products well enough to solve a customer's problem instead of quoting a price.
We need:
- Genuine technical depth in coatings, industrial supply, safety, or a related field — application, technical service, shop supervision, or a career selling it
- Someone hungry. This is a build, not a route
- Comfortable walking into a plant cold and starting a conversation
- Valid driver's licence
We don't need a background in distribution sales. Order-takers won't enjoy working here.
Support and compensation
You wouldn't be handed a bag and wished luck.
- You'd start with a warm lead list, not a blank map. Two of our senior people worked this market for years — industrial and auto body — and still have the relationships.
They'll hand over the names and come out to open doors with you
- Full purchasing, shipping and technical support behind you, so you're selling rather than managing inventory
- Deep in-house technical backup on product specification, including the coastal and marine side
- Base salary of $80,000–$90,000 plus generous uncapped commission, and a vehicle allowance
We want our reps making a lot of money, because in this business that means they're finding real solutions for their customers. The two go together. What that looks like in practice: one of our reps came to us straight out of a paint booth. He'd been earning around $100,000 a year with heavy overtime. Within months he'd matched it on base plus commission — no overtime — and he's tracking well past it.
Why us
We're young, and we've already grown to three locations with a fourth opening this month — on the strength of service and products that outperform what's in the market. Not on contracts or rebate money.
We're building something we want to be proud of, and we want the people here to feel the same way.
Almost everyone on our team has worked for the other companies in this industry. They came here because they were tired of a model where nothing changes and nobody asks their opinion. We take their input seriously and we let them run with it. If an idea doesn't work, we tried it and we move on — that's how we learn.
You'd be the first person on the ground in the Lower Mainland. The territory would be yours to build, and you'd have real say in how we do it.
This is a rare thing — a genuine ground-floor opportunity, in the best province in the country, with a company young enough that you'd help shape what it becomes.
Apply with a résumé, or just tell us what you know and where you learned it. We read everything.
