Job Title: Instructor Therapist

Hourly Rate: $30.00 per hour

Must have experience with Children and Youth with exceptional needs The Instructor Therapist will provide full-time, one-to-one programming and intervention to a client(s) in a clinical setting. The role will involve implementing individualized programming, supporting toileting procedures, and responding appropriately to behaviours that include aggression or self-injury.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the clinical team and will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, family members, and other paraprofessionals regarding the client’s progress, as directed by the Registered Clinican.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

May include but not limited to:

- Provide a safe, appropriate, caring and nurturing environment when working with the client.
- Provide direct client care in assigned 1:1 utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural setting training arrangements as directed by the clinician or supervisor.
- Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
- Assist with client(s) with a variety of neuro-diversities
- Ensure all cleaning duties are completed daily as per the cleaning checklists
- Attend and complete all mandatory professional development opportunities
- Follow all policies and procedures as specified in the employee handbook
- Implement all clinical skills instruction and behaviour reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to the client(s).

BASIC & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to lift and carry clients with adaptive equipment.
- Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing, running, jumping, pushing, pulling, playing) for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift, carry and maintain a variety of postures to complete all necessary cleaning duties as specified.
- Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be willing and able to block/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as instructed in any Behavior Intervention Plans while working with children with challenging behavior.
- Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
- Must be physically present at the assigned job location.
- Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
- Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently, with a minimum of supervision required.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

- Must have experience with Children and Youth with exceptional needs
- A Diploma in Developmental Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Educator, Social Service Worker or equivalent/higher education.
- Experience within similar fields will be considered.
- Experience implementing evidence based support and programming to children and youth clients.
- Must have current police record check including the vulnerable sector check
- Must have a valid Driver’s License & insurance in good standing

Pay: $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
