ISE is seeking an Electrical Technologist to join our Engineering team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks ranging from building and testing electrical systems, to writing technical specifications. You will work with Senior Engineers through all project phases – from concept, through commissioning.
Responsibilities
▪ Assembly of control panels, interface trays and junction boxes
▪ Troubleshooting sub-systems and integrated systems
▪ Assembly and test of control computers and micro-controllers
▪ Assist in the design and development of electrical systems; including high voltage electric motor control circuits, low voltage micro-controller PCB’s and signal interface panels
▪ Component selection and sub-system design and refinement of existing designs
▪ Wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting procedures for the manufacturing and configuring of components used in Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV)
▪ Creation of wiring diagrams, wiring harnesses or cable drawings in AutoCAD or SolidWorks
▪ Schematic and PCB design using Altium Designer
▪ Generation of test plans, datasheets, system documentation, user manuals and reports
▪ Microcontroller programming, and FW development
Qualifications
▪ Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (Systems, Electronics, Mechatronics or similar)
▪ Practical technical problem solving and strong troubleshooting skills
▪ CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or Altium Designer)
▪ High competency with networked computer systems, and office software
▪ Experience with power systems and high voltage
▪ Hands on experience with electrical system fabrication and testing
▪ Design & Analysis
▪ Technical writing
▪ Basic shop skills (screwdrivers, wrenches, wiring, soldering, hand tools, etc.)
▪ Must be able to work well as part of a team, independently and with diverse groups of people
▪ Must be eligible to work in Canada
▪ Willingness to travel both domestic and internationally
▪ All candidates must be eligible to obtain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security Clearance
Additional preferred qualifications
▪ Experience or Interest in working in a marine environment
▪ Knowledge of embedded systems, sensors, and real-time controls applications
▪ Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, such as electric motors and actuators
▪ Willingness and ability to work offshore
