Job Summary The Intermediate Process Engineering / Robot Technician supports and improves robotic welding and manufacturing processes within MTH manufacturing’s Facility. The position combines process engineering responsibilities with hands on robotic welding programming, trouble shooting, and production support. The role is responsible for developing reliable manufacturing processes, optimizing robotic weld cells, improving product quality/production efficiency, maintaining engineering designs in CAD, and collaborating with other engineering, quality and production employees.
Roles and responsibilities:
Robotic Welding:
- Program, teach, adjust, and optimize robotic welding systems
- Create and modify robot programs for new and existing axle components and assemblies.
- Adjust weld parameters, robot paths, torch angles, travel speeds, and sequencing to achieve consistent weld quality
- Troubleshoot robotic welding equipment, controllers, sensors, and safety systems.
- Conduct inspections of robotic machinery to identify wear, damage, alignment issues, and potential equipment failures.
Manufacturing Process Engineering:
- Develop, document, implement and improve manufacturing processes for axle components and other assemblies
- Evaluate production processes to improve safety, quality and productivity.
- Support the introduction and implementation of new products, equipment, fixtures and manufacturing processes
- Identify manufacturing constraints and recommend solutions.
- Review and support the creation of drawings, specifications, bill of materials
- Develops production inspection tools.
- Assists with quality document and work instruction updates.
- Supports internal audit program for SOP’s and Work Instructions.
Troubleshooting and Production Support:
- Provide timely technical support to production employees
- Investigate recurring equipment, quality and process problems
- Work with quality personnel on non-conformances, customer concerns, and corrective action investigations
- Verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects involving robotics, material flow, tooling, cycle time, quality, and product improvement
- Apply lean-manufacturing and practical problem-solving principles
- Standardize successful improvements across similar equipment and processes
- Participate in workplace organization and 5S activities
Job Specifications and Requirements
- Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred (mechanical, manufacturing, automotive).
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and measurement principles.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Experience and knowledge of ISO principles.
- Strong trouble shooting and technical ability
- Strong organizational skills.
