Investigator The Advocate for Children and Youth is a non-partisan independent office of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan and acts on behalf of children and youth receiving services from any government, agency, or publicly funded health entities. The Advocate for Children and Youth engages in advocacy, investigations, public education, and research in matters that impact children and youth in the Province of Saskatchewan.

Reporting to the Executive Director - Investigations & Systemics, this position works both independently and within a team setting to investigate matters pertaining to systemic issues that affect services to children, child deaths, critical injuries, and issues related to program and service that come to the attention of the Advocate or as directed by the Advocate. This position takes a diplomatic, non-adversarial approach and adheres to the methodology of investigations pertaining to evidence gathering, analysis, report writing, and project and case management.

Based in Saskatoon, these services are conducted in a timely, fair, and impartial manner in accordance with The Advocate for Children and Youth Act, Saskatchewan Children and Youth First Principles, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, and the Touchstones of Hope for Indigenous Children, Youth and Families.

This position requires candidates to have a university degree with minimum10 years of experience in a related field (ie: social sciences, social work, or law) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. To qualify you will possess the appropriate behavioral, technical skills,



and competencies commensurate with the responsibilities of this position as demonstrated in your application.

You will bring:

· Knowledge, experience, and understanding of child and youth-serving government structures, programs, policies, and legislation; and expertise in comprehension of legislation and its application to program delivery;

· Sound understanding of issues affecting children and youth and experience working to resolve these issues;

· Proven experience in conducting investigations, developing investigative plans, gathering evidence, interviewing and report writing;

· Experience preparing high quality, detailed investigation reports with recommendations that address case specific and systemic issues

· Experience in project and case management;

· Strong research, analytical skills, and risk management skills;

· Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse clientele and stakeholder groups including children, youth, and their families, as well as working with minority populations, particularly Indigenous Peoples;

· Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, public speaking, and public relations skills;

· Commitment to client service and quality principles in service delivery;

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment;

· Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize one's own workload while employing effective time management skills;

· Experience inputting and processing information using various electronic information management systems.

Pay: $94,356.00-$122,676.00 per year
