All candidates will be considered; however local applicants will be given preference.These are Summer Student positions working eighty (80) hours bi-weekly, within the Rural Operations (Fort Chipewyan) Branch of the Indigenous & Rural Relations Department. These positions are within the CUPE 1505 Bargaining Unit.Under close supervision, the Summer Student Labourer, Fort Chipewyan will perform manual labour duties involved in the maintenance of a variety of municipal buildings and grounds in the Fort Chipewyan region. Tasks include, but are not limited to, cleaning and maintaining all assigned areas and facilities, operating a variety of small equipment and hand/power tools of a limited-skill nature, and performing other general labourer duties.QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to understand instructions and safety procedures.Ability to demonstrate dependability and reliability.Ability to work collaboratively and productively with co-workers and actively contribute to team activities.Must be able to listen attentively and communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.Ability to perform manual labour for extended periods of time and in all weather conditions.A positive attitude towards work and safety.Ability to speak Cree or Dene is an asset.General math, numeracy,
