Position Description
We are seeking an experienced Jira Administrator for a 3-6 month engagement to support, maintain, and optimize an existing Atlassian Jira environment.
Working with business, delivery, technology, and support teams, you will help stabilize the platform, streamline configurations, improve governance and automation, and ensure Jira remains scalable and maintainable.
A key objective of this engagement is to leave behind a well-documented and streamlined Jira environment, supported by clear administration procedures and knowledge transfer.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Administer and support Jira projects, users, roles, permissions, workflows, screens, fields, issue types, notifications, and schemes.
- Review the existing Jira setting and simplify or standardize workflows, fields, screens, schemes, permissions, filters, dashboards, and other configurations.
- Design and optimize Jira workflows and automation rules based on business and delivery requirements.
- Troubleshoot Jira configuration, workflow, permission, notification, performance, and user access issues, including Level 2/Level 3 administration support.
- Create and maintain JQL queries, filters, dashboards, and reports for operational and management needs.
- Establish Jira administration standards, naming conventions, configuration guidelines, access controls, and governance practices.
- Support Jira integrations, applications/plugins, upgrades, migrations, testing, and platform improvement initiatives where applicable.
- Document configurations and administrative procedures and provide knowledge transfer to internal support or administration teams.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
- 3+ years of hands-on Jira administration experience in a medium-to-large enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of Jira administration, including projects, workflows, issue types,
screens, custom fields, permissions, notification schemes, roles, groups, filters, dashboards, and Jira Automation.
- Strong working knowledge of JQL.
- Experience troubleshooting complex Jira configuration and access issues.
- Experience gathering requirements and translating business processes into Jira solutions.
- Strong understanding of Jira configuration best practices and administration governance.
- Experience documenting system configurations and operational procedures.
- Solid analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Jira Cloud and/or Jira Data Center.
- Experience administering Jira Service Management and Confluence.
- Experience with ScriptRunner or other Atlassian Marketplace applications.
- Experience with REST APIs and Jira integrations.
- Experience with Jira migration, consolidation, or cleanup initiatives.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban delivery practices.
- Atlassian Jira Administrator or related Atlassian certification.
