What's this role about? You will lead and develop a new AI-focused engineering team. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you'll own the strategy and execution for integrating AI and machine learning capabilities into Auvik's product suite. This role combines people leadership and technical vision. You'll set the direction, grow the team's capabilities, and ship meaningful products.What will I be doing?Lead and develop a team of engineers and applied scientists, fostering growth, setting clear expectations, and building a strong team culture.Define and execute the AI product roadmap in close partnership with Product Management, translating customer needs into shipped features.Work with product management to move from idea to prototype to production quickly.Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies (LLMs, agents, predictive models) where they create genuine product value.Establish engineering best practices for ML development, including experimentation frameworks, model lifecycle management, and responsible AI guidelines.Collaborate cross-functionally with platform, data, and product teams to embed AI capabilities into the core product experience.Communicate progress, trade-offs,
and results clearly to leadership and stakeholders.What are we looking for?Few years leading engineering teams, with hands‑on experience building and shipping AI/ML‑powered products.Solid product sense and an ability to connect technical work to customer and business outcomes.Working knowledge of the modern AI/ML landscape: LLMs, RAG architectures, embeddings, fine‑tuning, and ML infrastructure.Experience developing and retaining technical talent, with a track record of growing engineers' skills and careers.Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make pragmatic decisions in a fast‑moving space.Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.Are there bonus points?Background in network management, monitoring, or infrastructure software.Experience with AI‑driven automation, anomaly detection, or predictive analytics in an ops context.Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $160,000—$208,000 CADIn addition to cash compensation, all full‑time employees are granted stock options to share in Auvik's future successes.
