the Technologist will be responsible for carrying out assignments for specific projects or programs; conducting activities related to environmental water/wastewater or waste management projects in environmental assessment, detailed design or construction processes; assisting department users with their business requirements; participating in engineering meetings, submittal review coordination and day‑to‑day project management tasks; assisting in various projects and budget activities; and providing support in the research, design, analysis and planning activities of the Branch.What You’ll Be DoingAssist in ensuring that projects or procedures are carried out according to procedures, plans, specifications, and contract standards.Provide input and technical support for projects under the direction of Management and/or Senior Staff.Monitor project activities and ensure that assigned project and task timetables are kept up to date.Prepare and submit regular project status reports.Assist in the development and implementation of projects (design and tendering, environmental assessment and system capacity assessments, monitoring project activities) strategies, policies and guidelines including work plans and schedules.Research and analyze data to determine requirements and provide supporting data for reports, as required.Coordinate and attend meetings with the project manager, prepare minutes, create action item logs, follow up on action items to ensure due dates are met.Create and maintain various logs including shop drawings and submittal logs, site instructions, request for information and engineering and contractor change orders.Attend construction site for meetings, measure project progress, compare it to the construction drawings, verify that as‑constructed drawings are up to date.Provide input on business process changes and impact of implementation.Liaise with internal and external staff, outside agencies,



contractors and the public on projects and provide technical information, as directed.What We’re Looking ForSuccessful completion of a three‑year Community College Diploma Program in Civil Engineering Technology or Environmental Studies or approved equivalent.Up to one year experience working in a Water and Wastewater environment.Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and reliable vehicle for corporate business use.Knowledge of applicable guidelines, procedures, standards and legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.Knowledge of theory, principles and practices of public consultation process, program development, planning, design and construction and Water and Wastewater and/or Solid Waste Infrastructure.Knowledge and demonstrated ability in water and wastewater treatment process, conveyance and collection system design, technical data collection, design development, project reporting and progress tracking.Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership.Computer literacy utilizing MS software applications as well as demonstrated proficiency with specialized software relevant to the technical specialty (e.G., AutoCAD and Project Scheduling).Ability to provide technical support for projects under direction of Management and/or Senior Staff.Ability to read, interpret and comment on technical reports, engineering drawings and maps.Ability to work outside regular business hours as required.Scheduled Weekly Hours: 37.5Scheduled Shifts: 8:30 a.M. to 4:30 p.M.Equal Opportunity Employer StatementYork Region is an equal prospect employer committed to an inclusive, barrier‑free recruitment and selection process.
