Counsellor - Community Opioid Addictions Program (COAP), Addiction MedicineDirect Service – OPSEU, Full time, Permanent, Benefitted. London, Ontario (London Zone). Application Deadline: May 26, 2026.We believe that everyone has the right to access supports that will foster growth and allow them to live with dignity, and independence in our community.In the Community Opioid Addictions Program (COAP), Counsellors will work with existing community services to provide coordinated, collaborative, community‑based health and social services from an interdisciplinary, integrated, and holistic perspective for people with opioid addiction. The role prioritizes pregnant women and people living with HIV and/or Hepatitis C, as well as individuals with poly‑substance use and concurrent disorders.ResponsibilitiesProvide client‑centred harm‑reduction careDevelop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of service providers and organizationsMaintain up‑to‑date knowledge of opioid treatments and trends in the opioid/substance‑abusing populationSeek out and engage individuals with opioid addiction, including those already receiving substitution therapy who require additional medical, social, and psychological supportsFacilitate successful service navigation for clients through empowerment and/or advocacyProvide education, referrals and clinical support for people with opioid addiction and related problems in a coordinated, collaborative, interdisciplinary,
integrated and holistic perspectiveProvide clinical services in satellite offices and other designated locations as neededManage and meet targets for a clinical caseload and maintain direct service requirementsManage indirect services and administrative dutiesBe available for evening clinical work during regular office hours and on occasion outside of regular hours as needed and when appropriateAssist with drug screening tests and clinic supportMaintain awareness of and adherence to policies and protocolsActively participate in the supervisory process with the immediate supervisorBenefitsSalary– Starting rate: $27.14 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service). Wage differential of $30.01 per hour for regulated designation. Internal placement per Collective Agreement.Premiums– $2.00 per shift for eligible evening/night and weekend shiftsWork hours– 70 hours per bi‑weekly period, rotating days, afternoons and eveningsBenefits – After a 90‑day waiting period, enrollment in extended health care benefitsPension – Immediate enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)QualificationsCollege Diploma or University Degree in a related field, preferably BSW or post‑graduate diploma in addiction, or equivalent.
