Role Description The Junior Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Hamilton, Ontario. This position supports the estimating team by reviewing project specifications and drawings, assisting in preparing quantity take-offs, and developing cost estimates for drilling, cutting, and sawing projects. Day-to-day tasks include gathering and organizing pricing information from suppliers and subcontractors, updating estimate databases, and helping prepare proposal documents and bid submissions.

The Junior

Estimator collaborates with project managers and field teams to clarify scope, adjust estimates based on site conditions, and ensure that bids reflect safety, quality, and schedule requirements.



The role also involves maintaining accurate records, learning industry standards and methods, and contributing to continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Qualifications

- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical documents and construction drawings.
- Basic understanding of construction or concrete-related work, with a willingness to learn drilling, cutting, and sawing methods and industry standards.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and estimating or project management software, as well as solid general computer skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with project managers, field staff, suppliers, and clients.
- Organizational and time-management skills, including attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and reliability in all aspects of work, aligning with company values and client expectations.
- Post-secondary education in construction technology, engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience or co-op/internship in estimating, construction, or a related role is an asset, as is familiarity with the Ontario construction market.
