POSITION: Junior School Teacher - temporary
ASSIGNMENT: Behaviour Support (Gr 8-9) This position would support grade 8 and 9 students with routines, problem-solving and expectations. This position would include working closely with students, the school counsellor, and other members of the school team and occasionally outside agencies.
FTE: 1.0
LOCATION: Quesnel Junior School
EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing September 1, 2026 until June 30, 2027, or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent, with the possibility of extension and/or reduction in FTE.
Basic Qualifications: A successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch AND possess one or more of the following:
Training Specialization: Secondary Education with a specialization in Special Education
Related Teaching Experience: Recent successful experience as a Resource Teacher A Reasonable Expectation: based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.
Additional Qualifications: Two or more courses at the 200 or 300 level in Special Education

Behaviour Support Teacher
- Support students in developing regulatory skills through encouraging and reinforcing routines
- Collaboratively develop and assess programs and Competency-Based IEPs for students with a variety of behavioural needs
- Support students in learning about healthy problem-solving
- Support school initiatives, such as Preventure, in relation to social-emotional programming
- Organize and facilitate social-emotional programming for students referred by the school-based team (Everyday Anxiety Strategies for Educators, for example)
- Ability to lead or facilitate IEP meetings, working team meetings and qualified team meetings, liaise with outside agencies, and maintain detailed records of meetings
- Willingness to work as a member of the School Based Team, facilitating communication and coordinating services and resources through the QJS SBT.
- Work collaboratively and in a consultative manner with classroom teachers, principals, the school-based team, and Youth Care worker staff
The annual salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $64,901 to $116,190 with placement on the range based on length of service with qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
