Plated Kitchen is a growing Halifax meal-prep and catering business focused on providing high-quality, chef-prepared meals for busy families and professionals. We are looking for a reliable, efficient, and motivated Kitchen Assistant / Prep Cook to join our team and help with weekly production.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced kitchen. The right person does not need to be an experienced chef, but they should be comfortable working with food, following direction, staying organized, and maintaining a clean and efficient workspace.
Responsibilities
- Vegetable and ingredient preparation
- Portioning and packaging meals
- Basic cooking and food preparation
- Following recipes and portion standards
- Labeling and organizing finished products
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace
- Washing dishes and keeping production areas organized
- Assisting with receiving and organizing ingredients
- Helping the kitchen stay on schedule during weekly production
- Other general kitchen duties as required
What We’re Looking For
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working at a steady, fast pace
- Strong attention to detail
- Organized and able to follow instructions
- Good attitude and willingness to learn
- Able to work independently once trained
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting approximately 25–40 lbs
- Previous kitchen, restaurant, catering, or food-production experience is an asset but not required
- Food Handler Certification is an asset
