Job Overview The Main is looking for a dedicated Kitchen Assistant & Dishwasher to support café service. The candidate will assist with daily kitchen operations, including food prep, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, keeping on top of dishes, and ensuring food safety and quality. This role requires a strong background in from-scratch food preparation and general kitchen maintenance.

Duties

- Staying on top of dishes, and ensuring all dishes are cleaned and sanitized to café standard
- Food preparation including washing, cutting, peeling, and portioning
- Assisting with assembling basic menu items
- Sweeping and mopping kitchen area
- Cleaning and sanitizing counters, sinks, and high-touch surfaces
- Emptying garbage cans and disposing of kitchen and food waste properly
- Unpacking and organizing food and supply deliveries
- Rotating stock and checking expiration dates




- Other kitchen-related tasks as needed

Qualifications

- Proven experience in a food preparation/dishwashing role within the food industry, preferably in a bakery or café
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a rapid-paced environment
- Ability to prioritize tasks to ensure smooth service
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and inventory management
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays

Salary This position begins at $18.00 per hour, with regular opportunities for pay increase based on performance.
