Job SummaryPosition Title: Intermediate AccountantContract Duration: 12 MonthsSalary: $65,000‑$75,000 plus benefitsLocation: Ottawa, ON / Gatineau, QCWork Model: Hybrid – 4 days per week onsite / 1 day work from homeKey ResponsibilitiesSupport the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for a portfolio of entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reportingPrepare and post general journal entries and maintain complete and accurate financial records, including ledgers, registers, and supporting documentationPerform detailed general ledger reconciliations and investigate variances, including intercompany balances and chargeback discrepanciesAnalyze financial results through balance sheet and income statement variance analysis, providing insights to support decision‑makingPrepare and contribute to internal financial reporting packages for management reviewAccount for property, plant, and equipment (PPE) transactions, including additions, disposals, and maintenance of construction‑in‑progress (CWIP) and fixed asset schedulesAssist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholdersSupport external audit processes, including preparation of schedules and responding to auditor requestsResearch and apply appropriate accounting treatments for routine transactions in accordance with applicable standardsMaintain and enhance financial reporting documentation,
ensuring processes are clearly defined and up to dateIdentify opportunities for process improvements and support the design and implementation of more efficient workflowsExecute internal control procedures and ensure compliance with established policies and governance frameworksQualificationsThe ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 2 years of experience performing full‑cycle accounting, supported by a bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent practical experience. Active progression toward completion of the CPA (with plans to write the CFE within the next 12 months) is required. You will demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to consistently meet tight deadlines, particularly during month‑end and quarter‑end close cycles. Highly organized and adaptable, you are comfortable managing competing priorities within a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment. You possess strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, applying sound professional judgment under pressure, along with clear and effective communication abilities. Proficiency in MS Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUPs and pivot tables, is essential, along with the ability to quickly learn current financial systems. Familiarity with IFRS and/or US GAAP and experience working within publicly listed organizations in Canada or the U.S. is highly desirable.
