Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Housekeeping, the Laundry Person is primarily responsible for ensuring all linens, towels and company uniforms are cleaned, sorted, folded and stocked appropriately and regularly. Identifies the need for deep cleaning and takes initiative to improve standards. Maintains all laundry equipment and informs their supervisor as to any maintenance needs.
Assists
Housekeepers with cleaning client rooms and other tasks within the housekeeping department as requested. This is a 6-month contract to cover a leave.
Key Responsibilities Clean and dry all assigned laundry as directed Treat stains, sort, fold and/or hang clean items as directed Safely operate laundry machines; check detergent and rinse agent levels Sort, pack, unpack and assist in receiving, issuing and transporting supplies Maintain inventory of all cleaning supplies and communicate needs to the manager
Maintain all laundry equipment and inform the manager of any maintenance needs
Perform additional laundry services when necessary
Maintain a safe, secure and healthy setting for our clients and staff
Open housekeeping department by assigning rooms, coordinating staff sick calls and availability for assignments, coordinating requests from the front desk on room cleaning and changes Assists housekeepers with cleaning client rooms and other tasks within the Housekeeping Department as requested
Assist with additional tasks as and when needed or assigned by management both within and outside roles and departments to support Larga operations.
Minimum Qualifications 1 to 2 years of similar laundry person experience in a hospital or industrial-type setting Knowledge and Skills Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks
Able to lift 20 pounds on a consistent basis
Ability to work without direct supervision
Excellent customer service and communication skills An aptitude for problem-solving
Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
Patience and professionalism to tactfully and diplomatically interact with clients, visitors and staff Preferred Qualifications Inuktitut is a strong asset
First Aid / CPR/ AED trained (or a willingness to learn)
