Experienced Family Law Clerk
Full-Time | Join a Firm with More Than 50 Years of Excellence
Are you an experienced Family Law Clerk who enjoys meaningful work, a great team, and no two days being exactly the same?
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Family Law Clerk to join our Family Law Practice at a well-established and respected law firm that has proudly served our community for over 50 years.
This is an opportunity to become an important part of a collaborative team, working closely with our family law lawyers on a wide variety of files. Family law can be challenging, fast-moving, and incredibly rewarding—and we're looking for someone who enjoys being at the centre of it all.
In addition to meaningful work and a supportive team workplace, we offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and a workplace culture that values connection, collaboration, wellness, and having fun together.
Whether you're a seasoned clerk with years of family law experience or a rising professional with a strong foundation and transferable skills, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be a key member of our Family Law Practice, supporting our lawyers and helping clients navigate every stage of the family law process. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and managing family law court documents, forms, and supporting materials
- Preparing court filings and ensuring compliance with deadlines, the Family Law Rules, local practice directions, and procedural requirements
- Managing calendars, limitation periods, court dates, and file progression
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and other professionals
- Maintaining organized electronic and physical files
- Assisting with client invoicing, posting disbursements,
monitoring retainer balances and account follow up with clients.
- Providing occasional reception coverage and administrative support when needed
- Helping keep a busy practice running smoothly and efficiently
What We're Looking For
- Approximately 5 years of direct family law clerk experience is preferred; however, candidates with less experience (with a minimum of 3 years experience), may be considered if they bring other valuable skills, education, or related legal experience
- Strong knowledge of the Family Law Rules, family court procedures, and family law processes, including local practice directions
- Familiarity with relevant software and platforms (for example: Divorcemate, Docusign, legal docketing software);
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- A proactive approach and the ability to manage competing priorities in a sometimes fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A team player who enjoys supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive workplace culture
- A commitment to providing exceptional client service and maintaining high professional standards
Why Join Us?
- Join a respected and established firm with a reputation built over more than five decades
- Work alongside experienced lawyers and a collaborative team in a supportive and professional environment
- Enjoy interesting, challenging, and rewarding work that makes a meaningful difference in clients' lives
- Competitive salary starts at $70,000+ per year, negotiable based on years of experience, skills and the value the candidate brings to the role
- Benefit from a comprehensive benefits program, including health, dental, disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as access to an Employee Assistance Program
- Take advantage of our on-site gym, wellness initiatives, and flexible work setting that support work-life balance
- Enjoy paid vacation time, on-site parking, and other employee-focused perks
- Participate in great firm social events and team-building activities throughout the year
- Build a long-term career with a firm that values professionalism, client service, teamwork, and a positive workplace culture
We believe that great work happens when talented people feel supported, connected, and valued. That's why we've built a workplace that combines meaningful legal work with a strong team culture, opportunities for growth, and benefits that support your well-being both inside and outside the office.
