Position Overview
Kendrix is seeking a skilled Lead Technician to support our field operations team. This role is ideal for a technician who is comfortable working independently on installations, understands best practices in electronic security systems, and can support junior technicians onsite when required.
While this is not a senior leadership position, the successful candidate will be trusted to manage assigned tasks with minimal supervision, troubleshoot technical challenges, and contribute to overall project quality, timelines, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow Kendrix Technology’s standards,
rules, and policies.
- Installation of:
- CCTV system
- Card access systems
- Intrusion systems
- ULC Intrusion and ULC Fire Monitoring systems
- Analogue and VOIP intercom systems
- EMT/PVC/Wiremold conduit
- Automatic gates
- Magnetic Locks
- Electric Strikes
- Structured cabling
- Integration of:
- Door operators
- Overhead Doors
- Intrusion systems with Card Access Systems
- CCTV with Card Access Systems
- Software installation and upgrades
- Working off ladders, scissor lifts, boom trucks
- Attend and participate in site meetings
- Coordinate with other trades on job sites
- Networking/Computers
- Setting up Dynamic DNS, LAN, WAN, DHCP, TCP/IP Networks
- Configuring network router which would include firewall rules and port forwarding
- Design and program network devices
- Install server/client software
- Update security patches on specific platforms
- Update firmware in network devices
- Project close out Documentation
- Fill out test/commissioning reports
- Fill out deficiency report
- Fill out work orders
- Install server/client software and setup switches
- Project test/commissioning reports
- Train client/end user on the specific platform that was installed
- Communicate with client and provide support on product as require
- Fluently provide documentation required by Management team
- Follow strict health and safety measures
Ad Hoc Responsibilities:
- Leadership/mentoring and support to other technical field staff
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Education:
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Fluent in English (both verbal and written)
- Must have Training Certificates:
- C-Cure 9000
- Genetec Security Center
- Avigilon ACC and ACM
- Milestone
- Having the following Training Certificates is an asset:
- Bosch Security – Intrusion
- Keyscan Aurora
- Kantech Corporate/Global
- Commend
- Exacqvision
- March Networks
- Boom/Scissor Lift
- WHMIS
- Working at Heights
- Full understanding of electrical drawings and the ability to install cable and devices based on them
- Strong knowledge of electronics Devices and strong troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of Excel to import/export data
- Ability to use test equipment including but not limited to Multi Meters, Network testers, network scanners
- Ability to use power tools such as Jig Saws, Grinders, Dremel’s, Large Concrete hammer drills
- Ability to complete jobs in timely manner to meet targeted deadlines
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
