The Position The Maintenance Worker supports the operation of supportive housing and office facilities by coordinating maintenance schedules, assisting staff with maintenance needs, and collaborating with contractors and service providers. The role contributes to safe, functional, and welcoming spaces by ensuring repairs, inspections, and upkeep are completed in line with organizational standards and BC Housing requirements. Finance and Administration Manager Qualifications High School completion required. Minimum 1 year of experience in non-profit housing or a related social service field. Experience in trades and/or building maintenance. Knowledge of building codes and compliance requirements. Skills in carpentry, plumbing, mechanics, electrical, janitorial, and tool use. Experience supporting individuals impacted by homelessness, substance use, and mental health challenges. Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, and Housing First. Proficiency with Google Suite and MS 365. Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required. Transparent Criminal Record Check. Skills Building maintenance and minor repair skills Preventative facility maintenance and inspections Janitorial services and grounds maintenance Health and safety inspection and compliance Knowledge of building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, and fire safety) Contractor and service provider coordination Move-in and move-out unit preparation Maintenance documentation and computerized record management Ability to prioritize maintenance requests and manage competing priorities Strong organizational, communication,
and customer service skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams Knowledge of workplace health and safety, emergency preparedness, and risk management Proficiency using maintenance tracking systems and Microsoft Office applications Working Condition and Physical Requirements Monday–Friday, with flexibility for evenings and weekends. Performs duties in environments where individuals face multiple barriers. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs safely and use industrial cleaning products.
