The ED at Helping Hands will bring strategic leadership, a collaborative approach, a posture of humility and flexibility, project management skills and excellent communication skills to this role. The successful candidate will have an active Christian spiritual life and will lead from that place of faith and conviction. This person will also be able to take the organizational vision and working with the Board of Directors, translate it into strategic plans and know how to execute through a dedicated group of staff. They will provide leadership, direction and guidance to staff and volunteers, primarily through the support of the Operations Director, in their contribution to the mission’s goals and objectives and represent the mission to regulatory bodies, other agencies, community and civic organizations, donors, funders and supporters, and the general public.Role Requirements:Fully aligned with the mission,
vision and values of Helping Hands Street MissionMaintain and model a spiritually thriving relationship with and passion for JesusHighly collaborative leader who knows how to work through influence and direction with excellent relational skills to navigate complex situationsStrong strategic and organizational skillsProven experience with fundraising and working with major donorsStrong advocacy skills – an ability both written and verbal – to share about HHSM and gain support for the community it servesFlexibility and willingness to respond to a changing and growing work environmentA strong understanding of and demonstrated empathy for the complexities around housing insecurity, substance use and mental health and commitment to serving all kinds of peopleExperience working within a trauma-informed care framework5 – 10 years of senior level leadership experience; experience with board governance is an assetExperience with capital campaign fundraising is an assetRole ResponsibilitiesOrganizational LeadershipProvide executive level leadership and management to all aspects of Helping Hands Street MissionOversee creation and execution of strategic plans, ensuring alignment with mission, vision and values across the organizationEnsure appropriate ways of measuring organizational health are in place and supported through operational plans and budgetsRepresent the organization as an ambassador and spokesperson with the media and community partnersBuild social capital and advocate for the needs of the organization and its community members through strategic relationships with community partners, private donors and governmentAnalyze trends, identify opportunities and issues and direct strategic organizational growth, improvement and solutions with input from the Board where necessaryFoster a positive, inclusive,
and collaborative workplace cultureProvide regular opportunities for connection and vision casting with stakeholdersConduct regular one on ones with the Operations Director, ensuring they have clear expectations, accountabilities, feedback and supportEnsure appropriate HR processes are in place including recruitment, selection, training & development performance management and policies and proceduresFinancial and Legal LeadershipEnsure ongoing financial sustainability through wide-ranging streams of funding opportunitiesEnsure financial alignment of ministry resources and goals through budgeting, monitoring cash flow and the audit procedure to ensure alignment with best business practicesMaintaining regular communications with the Board of Directors, including preparing reports for and attending monthly governance meetingsEnsure that all legal and regulatory obligations for the organization are met and actions of the organization and employees meet all applicable lawsDevelop and execute a fundraising and donor relations strategy including all stakeholdersStewarding relationships with major donors, partner connections, presentations, connecting with churches and other organizationsEnsure annual fundraising events and tactics are executed well and achieve financial goalsOversee the execution of all aspects of the current capital campaign including events, donor connections and public relations ensuring all milestones are metHelp develop grant ideas and process and provide research support that are then implemented by the Operations DirectorRelationshipsReports to:Board of DirectorsDirect Reports:Operations DirectorHiring StatementWe strive to achieve equality in the workplace, which means no one will be denied employment opportunities or benefits for reasons unrelated to fit for a role.
