Toronto Seniors Housing Corporation (TSHC) is a non‑profit municipal corporation mandated to provide subsidized rental housing in a state of good repair for approximately 15,000 low and moderate‑income seniors in 83 buildings across the City of Toronto. We provide tenants with access to services and support through an integrated service model to enable seniors to age at home, have successful tenancies, and enjoy a better quality of life.Director, FinanceReporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Finance leads the organization’s financial strategy, financial management framework, and fiscal oversight.This role provides both strategic and operational leadership across finance, including financial planning and reporting, controllership, audit, and procurement. The Director plays a key role in supporting organizational decision‑making by translating financial information into clear, practical insights for the CEO, Board, and leadership team.The Director also operates in a complex, multi‑stakeholder public‑sector environment, working closely with the City of Toronto, Toronto Community Housing, and external partners. Success in this role requires robust communication, presentation, and relationship management skills, along with sound financial leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development and implementation of TSHC’s financial strategy, including annual budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial planningOversee financial operations, including accounting, controllership, financial reporting, and audit coordinationEnsure strong financial controls, policies, and compliance with public sector accounting standards and regulatory requirementsOversee procurement practices in alignment with Broader Public Sector procurement directivesOversee TSHC’s insurance portfolio, ensuring appropriate coverage and mitigation of financial and organizational riskProvide clear, practical financial advice to the CEO, Board,
and leadership team to support decision‑makingPrepare and present financial reports, analysis, and recommendations to senior leadership and Board committeesTranslate complex financial information into clear, accessible messaging for non‑financial audiencesBuild and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including the City of Toronto, Toronto Community Housing, financial institutions, and service providersContribute as a member of the leadership team to organizational strategy, planning, and performance managementLead, coach, and develop a high‑performing finance teamSupport organizational priorities, including equity, diversity, and inclusion initiativesQualificationsUniversity degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related fieldSignificant progressive experience in senior financial leadership, preferably in the public or not‑for‑profit sectorExperience operating in a complex, multi‑stakeholder or publicly funded environmentStrong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, reporting, controllership, audit, and risk managementKnowledge of public sector accounting standards and governance frameworksStrong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly to a range of audiencesProven ability to build relationships and work effectively with senior leaders, Board members, and external stakeholdersSound judgment, integrity, and the ability to operate in a politically and operationally complex environmentWhy Join TSHCThis is an opportunity to play a key leadership role in a growing public organization delivering essential services to seniors across Toronto.
