The Role
As a Line Cook, you’ll report to the Café Manager and take ownership of cooking and running a station during service. You’ll manage inventory and prep for your station, uphold food-safety standards, and help keep the kitchen running smoothly. While the kitchen is your home base, you’ll also step in at the café when needed — so you’re able (or willing to train) to make consistent, quality coffee and tea beverages, deliver excellent customer service, and lead in a way that reflects our values.
What You’ll Do
- Cook efficiently and to standard through a busy service
- Ensure food-safety and all health department requirements are met and exceeded

- Clean and reset your station
- Step in at the café counter when needed, including making quality coffee and tea beverages
Education & Experience
- Minimum 1 year of culinary experience
- Food Safe Level 1 certification
- Willingness to complete VCK’s orientation and training (provided)
What You’ll Bring
- Self-motivated,
with an attitude of excellence and solid attention to detail
- Creative, strategic, and resourceful, with solid problem-solving skills
- Organized and able to work with minimal instruction
- Team-oriented and respectful of the chain of command
- Calm and adaptable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and stay consistent throughout service
- A clear communicator who gives, receives, and acts on feedback
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 60 lbs
- Able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours
- Able to pull, push, squat, bend, reach, and carry equipment
- Manual dexterity sufficient to use hand tools
Working Conditions & Equipment
- Primarily indoor work (approx. 95%), with occasional outdoor work (approx. 5%)

- Equipment includes: dishwasher, slicer, carts, ovens, grill, griddle, stoves, knives, espresso machine, coffee maker, grinders, and other kitchen tools as needed
We work well together as a team and, in keeping with Romans 16:17, seek to avoid dissension or division. Reliable attendance and a heart for serving people of all cultures are essential. Expected hours: 10.0 – 30.0 per week
Work Location: In person
