Overview

Operate locomotives to provide safe and efficient rail car switching services in an industrial yard. Ensure safe train movements by conducting job briefings and adhering to Canadian Rail Operating Rules. Working in a customer-oriented workplace, the Locomotive Engineer must work well in teams to maximize efficiency and safety, while demonstrating strong initiative and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

- Operate a locomotive within a private rail yard.

- Perform general yard switching in coordination with the Conductor.

- Perform daily locomotive inspections.

- Maintain strict adherence to operating rules, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

- Valid locomotive engineer certification





- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to identify basic mechanical issues and support troubleshooting efforts.

- Applicants are required to hold a valid drivers license.

- Employment is conditional upon passing CROR rules examination and railway medical.

- Must be fluent in English.

- Ability to work safely with minimal supervision.

- Effective radio communication skills.

- Physically capable of climbing, walking uneven surfaces, and working in all weather conditions.
