Position SummaryReporting to the Manager of Professional Practice, the Advanced Practice Nurse Educator (APNE) is an integral member of the interdisciplinary leadership team. The APNE, aligned with the Medical‑Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU), is part of the Critical Care Leadership team and the Practice‑Based Education team within the Collaborative Academic Practice Portfolio. This role focuses on enhancing patient care through evidence‑based practice, clinical consultation, and identifying and addressing gaps in care delivery.DutiesDesign and deliver tailored staff educationPromote career development and mentor nurses for career growthCollaborate with teams across UHN and the academic community on clinical and educational initiativesParticipate in committees and share best practicesLead program evaluation, implement innovative education strategies, and support and lead quality improvement initiativesDrive nursing visibility and change management efforts, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulationsParticipate and lead corporate initiatives and teachingQualificationsRegistered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and able to practice without restrictionsCompletion of Critical Care Nursing Certificate Program (required)Minimum 5 years working in a relevant Critical Care setting (recommended)Graduate degree in Nursing or Education or recognized equivalent (recommended); candidates in progress may be consideredCompletion of Basic Life Support (BLS) program required upon hire; Advanced CardiovascularLife Support (ACLS)
