Job Title: Caretaker (Recreation & Parks Department)Job DetailsThe City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Recreation and Parks department as a Caretaker. The position will report to the Supervisor, Recreation Infrastructure, and will be responsible for providing a full range of cleaning services at Recreation & Parks Department operated facilities to ensure patrons and employees have a clean environment and that event/booking requirements are met in a timely manner.ResponsibilitiesDaily cleaning of large recreational facilities based on established cleaning standards to ensure a safe, healthy & clean environment.Scrubbing, cleaning and sanitizing washrooms, locker and dressing rooms, common areas, offices, gym/fitness/aquatic/floor areas and various meeting room spaces.Providing excellent customer service to patrons and employees.Complying with OH&S regulations and reading and understanding MSDS sheets, safe work practices with chemicals, proper lifting techniques.Maintaining and replenishing supplies at various locations within the facility.Ongoing sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, buffing/waxing of floors, as well as cleaning bleacher areas, windows and walls.Assisting with setup and takedown of tables/chairs, pipe/drape, or AV related equipment in event rooms.Reading and monitoring the facility’s daily schedule for booked functions and events.QualificationsMinimum Grade 10 education is required with one year of custodial/commercial cleaning experience.Must have the ability to read, write, speak and understand English.Must be familiar with OHS standards with health/safety being a major priority.The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated individual who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and excels at multi‑tasking.To be successful, candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working as part of a team.WHMIS knowledge would be an asset.Hours of WorkEarly: Approximately 5:00 a.M. to 2:00 p.M.Day: Approximately 8:00 a.M. to 4:30 p.M.Afternoon: Approximately 2:00 p.M. to 11:00 p.M.Night: Approximately 9:30 p.M.
