Job Title: Mainframe Quality Engineer (QE)

Location: Toronto (2-4 days hybrid)

Contract: Long Term

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Quality Engineer (QE) with a strong background in manual and automation testing of mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and mainframe testing tools. Experience in the Banking or Financial Services domain is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for mainframe applications.

Perform functional, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end testing.

Validate batch processing, online transactions, and file processing.

Analyze business and functional requirements to create effective test scenarios.

Execute SQL queries and validate data in DB2 databases.

Test batch jobs using JCL and validate outputs.

Identify, log, track, and verify defects using defect management tools.





Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, and stakeholders to resolve issues.

Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and production validation.

Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Prepare test execution reports and maintain QA documentation.

Required Skills

Valuable years of experience in Mainframe Quality Engineering or Mainframe Testing.

Strong knowledge of

COBOL

JCL

CICS

DB2

VSAM

TSO/ISPF

Experience testing batch and online mainframe applications.

Hands-on experience with SQL for backend data validation.

Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira or ALM.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
