MAINTENANCE MANAGER
Saint John, NB
Our client operates one of North America’s most contemporary and highly automated manufacturing facilities, producing a full range of building materials for residential and commercial construction. They are seeking an energetic and motivated leader to join their talent pipeline and team as Maintenance Manager .
This position is ideal for a technically strong leader who thinks beyond basic maintenance—someone who understands how asset reliability, safety, people development, and financial performance interconnect to drive business success. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Strategy & Reliability
- Asset Ownership: Own total plant maintenance, reliability, and long-term asset strategy, balancing daily operational execution with future reliability planning.
- Uptime Optimization: Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs to systematically improve equipment uptime and optimize operational costs.
- Execution & Outages:
Take full ownership of maintenance planning, scheduling, execution, and external contractor performance.
- Business Integration: Partner cross-functionally with operations, quality, and supply chain teams to support capital planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and overall business results.
Safety & Team Leadership
- Safety Culture: Lead by example to cultivate a world-class safety culture, setting the standard for safety leadership and strict regulatory compliance.
- Team Development: Coach, manage, and elevate a skilled maintenance and engineering workforce.
- Mentorship: Actively mentor engineers, supervisors, and high-potential employees to build a strong pipeline of future leaders.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education & Core Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Technical Foundation: Strong mechanical foundation, with knowledge of electrical and controls systems considered a valuable asset.
- Manufacturing Background: Proven industrial experience within a safety-critical manufacturing environment.
Leadership & Competencies
- Team Management: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build accountability, and continuously improve performance.
- Business Acumen: A proven interest in people leadership and understanding the broader business and financial impacts of technical operations.
Preferred Assets & Qualifications
- Experience leading major plant shutdowns and turnarounds.
- Strong background in planning, scheduling, and external contractor management.
- Direct experience with capital projects and engineering execution.
- Practical exposure to Lean manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), or Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles.
