About this opportunity:

This position reports to the Canadian Refining Technical Services Senior Manager and provides leadership to the Electrical, Instrumentation, Process Controls, and Distributed Control System (DCS) Design and Engineering team. As a key member of the Technical Services organization, you will lead a multidisciplinary team in delivering safe, reliable, and innovative engineering solutions that support the ongoing operation, maintenance, and optimization of our Canadian Refining facilities. You will collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other Engineering teams to drive continuous improvement, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance asset reliability and performance.

Work Environment:

This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area.

This is a full-time employee position.

What you'll do:

- Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team of Electrical, Instrumentation, Process Controls, and Distributed Control System (DCS) engineers and technologists to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
- Develop and execute long-term strategies to sustain, optimize, and enhance electrical, instrumentation, process control, and DCS systems across Canadian Refining facilities.
- Provide technical leadership and engineering support for Management of Change (MOC), maintenance activities, operational troubleshooting, and capital projects.
- Ensure compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry codes while maintaining engineering specifications and governance for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.




- Oversee the reliability, cybersecurity, and continuous improvement of DCS networks, process historians, operator simulator systems, alarm management, advanced process control applications, and instrumentation databases.
- Ensure the integrity and reliability of electrical power distribution systems, safety instrumented systems, and process control infrastructure, including ETAP models, arc flash analysis, and electrical safety standards.
- Manage team performance, workforce planning, succession planning, and career development while fostering technical excellence and adherence to the Professional Practice Management Plan.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Project teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions that improve asset performance and support business objectives.

Who you are:

- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineering Technologist eligible for registration with APEGA and APEGS, or an experienced Distributed Control System (DCS) Technologist with equivalent expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Process Controls Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 12+ years of progressive experience supporting electrical, instrumentation, process control,



and/or DCS systems within oil and gas refining, upgrading, or other large industrial processing facilities.
- Strong knowledge of the design, operation, maintenance, and optimization of electrical and control systems used in complex downstream processing facilities.
- Thorough understanding of Alberta and Saskatchewan electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Proven leadership experience leading multidisciplinary engineering or technical teams, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
