Job DescriptionPosition Purpose summary: The groundskeeper maintains the cemetery grounds for four Salvation Army cemeteries in the Town of Hare Bay and the Salvation Army Cemetery in the Town of Dover.ResponsibilitiesEnsures the general upkeep of external property such as mowing lawns, picking up litter, sweeping sidewalks, gardening/watering and planting shrubs, pruning and weeding and rakingServices external amenitiesPicks up equipment and suppliesEnsure proper storage and basic maintenance of equipmentBe responsible for managing your own timePerforms other duties as assignedHealth and SafetyUse personal prescribed safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer.Report any workplace hazards, dangers, safety issues, injuries, or illness immediately and ensure care is taken with all equipment and property.Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.Performs other work-related duties as assigned.Working ConditionsWork environment is typically performed outdoors.The performance of the job requires operating industrial equipment and tools, reaching, bending, twisting, lifting and fine motor skills.Requires moderate to high attention when handling hazardous chemicals and using non-motorized/general cleaning equipment.Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds.Position requires significant walking and liftingRequires working in various weather conditionsUse glovesUse ear/eye protection (goggles)Use steel toe bootsConditions Of EmploymentKindly review the eligibility criteria for the Canada Summer Jobs program using the link below before applying.Canada Summer Jobs – Who can apply – Canada.CaThis position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
