Overview The Supervisor is the baton carrier on the shop floor — the leader responsible for the handoff of quality, safety, and productivity from one shift, one station, and one department to the next. As a Committed Partner in Milron's Fearless Leadership Performance Cycle, the Supervisor doesn't wait to be told what's wrong — they see it, name it, and fix it. This role owns the daily execution of four non-negotiable pillars — Safety, Quality, Quantity, and the Fearless Leadership Performance Cycle itself — while building a culture of Straight Talk, accountability, and ownership on their team.
This is not a caretaker role. A Fearless Leader runs toward problems, coaches in real time, and refuses to let a poor quality part, an unsafe shortcut, or a missed unit count get passed down the line. Growing the Game — not shrinking it — is the standard.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily morning tool-box meeting that set the tone: Straight Talk on yesterday's performance, today's priorities, and any blockers.
- Own the Safety, Quality, and Quantity results for your department and report them accurately in the Department Summary — no sandbagging, no inflating.
- Conduct real-time coaching on the floor; give direct, specific, and fair feedback the moment you see it — good or bad and documented for reference.
- Participate fully in calibration sessions with the GM and CEO, defending your ratings with facts, not feelings.
- Manage the handoff between departments (Production → Fabrication → Powder → Assembly → Upfit) so the baton is never dropped.
- Complete 30/60/90-day probationary reviews and ongoing performance documentation for direct reports.
- Support the Blue Book apprentice program by mentoring and evaluating apprentices assigned to your department.
- Escalate equipment, staffing, or material issues immediately — problems are surfaced, not buried.
- Champion the Fearless Leadership standard: be a Committed Partner to your team, your peers, and the company — not a bystander.
- Hold team members accountable to the 1–5 performance rating scale across Quality of Work, Quantity/Productivity, Safety Practices, Teamwork & Communication, and Reliability & Attendance.
- Embed a culture of proactive maintenance and repairs to the building and equipment.
Requirements
- 2+ years of manufacturing supervisory or lead experience, preferably in metal fabrication, welding, or truck body/upfit environments.
- Working knowledge of FLHA, PPE standards, and shop-floor safety practices.
- Demonstrated ability to read production schedules, drawings, or work orders and translate them into daily execution.
- Strong verbal communication skills — comfortable giving direct feedback and leading a team huddle.
- Basic computer proficiency for time tracking, Department Summary reporting, and email.
