Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Shop Foreman to lead and supervise our shop team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role ensures that quality standards, productivity targets, and safety protocols are consistently met. The Shop Foreman will train, coach, and mentor employees, oversee daily shop operations, maintain schedules and production requirements, and contribute to process improvements for efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise, coordinate, and mentor shop employees in job duties, best practices, safety procedures, and company policies
- Train, coach, and provide performance feedback to employees, conducting reviews and recommending promotions or disciplinary actions
- Ensure compliance with company standards for quality, cost control, waste reduction, and on-time delivery
- Maintain and oversee the company welding program (CWB)
- Review and interpret production schedules, work orders, and technical plans to meet targets
- Inspect workmanship and verify quality standards, addressing any issues as required
- Maintain shop and yard housekeeping, equipment maintenance, and repair schedules
- Requisition materials, tools, and supplies, and track purchase orders and project progress
- Monitor and manage timecards, payroll accuracy, and workflow efficiency
- Assist in hiring, training, and employment termination processes as required
- Promote a safe and compliant work workplace through proactive enforcement of all health and safety policies
- Contribute to process improvements and recommend methods to increase efficiency and production quality
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the ongoing success of the shop

Qualifications

- Completion of college, vocational, or technical training in a relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fabrication, metalworking, or a related field




- Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience with demonstrated skills in coaching, training, and employee management
- Proven mechanical and technical abilities, including familiarity with welding and fabrication processes
- Leadership and team-building skills to effectively supervise trades and shop staff
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production tracking systems
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement work orders, schedules, and production plans
- Physical ability to lift, push, or move up to 50 lbs, and perform manual tasks as required
- Valid driver’s license

Working Conditions

- Use of personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety boots, gloves, etc.) is required
- Regular work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and fabrication equipment
- Work may occur outdoors in inclement weather, including heat, cold, and humidity
- Exposure to dust and high noise levels
