Canadian Maritime Engineering Ltd. is seeking experienced Marine Mechanics to join our team in Port Alberni. The successful candidates will support vessel construction, commissioning, maintenance, refit, and repair projects.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair marine mechanical equipment.
- Install and align engines, pumps, gearboxes, shafts, and related machinery.
- Install and service hydraulic, fuel, cooling, exhaust, steering, and compressed-air systems.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, manuals, and specifications.
- Perform system testing, commissioning, and operational checks.
- Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic system faults.
- Complete work in accordance with project specifications, quality requirements, and manufacturer instructions.
- Coordinate with electrical, fabrication, quality, and production personnel.
- Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- Recognized trade certification or equivalent relevant marine mechanical experience.
- Previous marine, shipyard, heavy-equipment, industrial, or commercial mechanical experience.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with diesel engines,
hydraulics, piping, pumps, and propulsion systems is preferred.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and system schematics.
- Experience with vessel commissioning and sea trials is considered an asset.
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces and other physically demanding environments.
- Valid driver’s licence is considered an asset.
- Dependable, professional, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Pay: $35.00-$46.53 per hour
