This role will assist in operations of the office as needed and will provide administrative support to staff and volunteers.ResponsibilitiesOperation of the heating and cooling system, including monitoring of gauges and control systems, troubleshooting,



minor repairs and preventative maintenance of equipmentAdvise management of area in need of long term and or immediate attentionProvide hands on services in the area of cleaningEnsure prescribed cleaning procedures and sequencesEnsure that proper cleaning products and tools are used according to directionsGeneral repairs to walls including patching, sanding & paintingChange lights & ballasts and clean lenses, as neededLock changesGeneral cleaning duties in front and back of house areasFacility grounds maintenance including lawn cuttingConduct preventative maintenance tasks on facility equipment outlined by the Facility CoordinatorBasic plumbing repairs including unplugging sinks & toiletsBasic electrical repairs including repairs to receptacles, light switches and ballastsOperates hand tools such as saws, drills, etc.Follows safe work practices and wears appropriate personal protective equipment (fall assist would be an asset)Completes work orders as assignedQualifications and AbilitiesAt the YMCA of the National Capital Region, we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals.Experience, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of cleaning products, material, and equipmentKnowledge of basic facility maintenance functions such as painting, plumbing, electrical and general repairs is considered an assetExperience in landscaping duties, including lawn care, wood chipping, and raking is considered an assetLanguageFluent in English, oral and writtenAdditional RequirementsApplicants must have a valid Standard First and CPR “C” certification (or be willing to obtain one)Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in CanadaA Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required.
