The Controller works within the Financial Administration Bylaw, OKIB policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with all Federal Acts and Legislation and Provincial Acts where applicable. The Controller works closely with the Director of Finance and will oversee a team, guiding them through daily accounting tasks with precision and efficiency.REPORTING STRUCTUREReports to the Director of Finance.JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESControllershipManagement of all Financial Department’s operations in order to ensure that finances are maintained in an accurate and timely manner and comply with relevant legislation, bylaws, policies and proceduresAssist Directors and Managers with developing annual forecasts and budgetsProvide analysis and prepare final reports for review by the Director of Finance and LeadershipResponsible for monitoring financial records, cash management and quality controlResponsible for monitoring contractual agreements and contribution agreementsResponsible for the coordination of the annual Audit by ensuring all schedules are prepared,
all reconciliations are complete and documentation is availableManage OKIB’s insurance portfolio and risk managementManage investment funds in accordance with established policies and proceduresResponsible for reporting to the Director of Finance on financial or management issues, policies, and the impact of issues from the Council’s perspectiveReview audited financial statements for accuracy and acceptability of formatConduct financial analysis and cash flow forecastingEstablish and maintain internal financial controlsDevelop and recommend accounting standards, policies and procedures for the OKIBProvides supervision and training of Finance staffManages and oversees corporate credit cardsOther related Finance Department dutiesAll persons employed by the Okanagan Indian Band may be required to assist the Band in providing emergency services.
