MAIR Care

Toronto

Overview

Join a small, established Toronto studio where you will be trained from the ground up in permanent hair removal. MAIR Care has cared for clients in The Beaches since 2013, and we do three things well: laser hair removal, waxing, and electrolysis. Working directly alongside the owner, a Medical Esthetician and Certified Professional Electrologist, you will learn a genuine skilled trade in a calm, unhurried, one-client-at-a-time environment.

Men and trans clients make up the majority of our practice. Your day will be spent on coarse, dense, stubborn hair: beard lines and faces, backs, shoulders, and chests, as well as intimate area work, including the male Brazilian, which we offer as a premium service and book regularly. We also provide pre-surgical and post-surgical hair removal for trans clients preparing for gender-affirming surgery, including donor site clearance for trans women and for trans men.

That work is clinical; it runs to timelines and clearance standards the surgeon sets, and it matters enormously to the person in the chair. You will need to be genuinely comfortable and genuinely respectful with these clients and with this work.

Comfortable is the minimum. Warm is what we are actually looking for. We welcome all genders: men, women, trans, non-binary, and we are proud to be a discreet, friendly, and inclusive clinic (LGBTQ2S+) serving clients from Canada and around the world. This is an entry-level position with full paid training, so formal experience is welcome rather than required. What we cannot teach is care, precision, discretion, and reliability. Everything else, we will show you.

Responsibilities

- Perform laser hair removal and body waxing on a clientele made up mostly of men and trans clients, including beard line and facial work, backs, shoulders, chests, and intimate areas, as well as on clients of all other genders, skin tones, and hair types.
- Perform male Brazilian treatments, offered as a premium service and booked as a regular part of the weekly schedule.
- Support pre-surgical and post-surgical hair removal for trans clients preparing for gender-affirming surgery, including donor site clearance, working to the treatment intervals and clearance standards the surgeon requires and documenting progress accurately.
- Train toward performing electrolysis using thermolysis, galvanic, and blend methods, with a supported path to qualified certification.
- Prepare and reset treatment rooms for every client: sanitize surfaces, change linens,

set up and sterilize instruments, and dispose of sharps and clinical waste correctly.
- Maintain the studio to Toronto Public Health personal service settings standards, including accurate sterilization and cleaning logs.
- Complete daily and weekly cleaning routines throughout the studio, including laundry, restocking, and opening and closing procedures.
- Manage inventory of wax, consumables, probes and needles, personal protective equipment, and retail stock, tracking usage and flagging low levels before supplies run short.
- Greet clients warmly, confirm appointments, manage the online booking calendar, and guide clients through intake and consent forms.
- Support consultations by explaining what each method does, setting realistic expectations about session counts and results, and answering questions honestly rather than upselling.
- Protect client privacy and confidentiality at all times, in the treatment room and outside it.
- Contribute to studio projects that match your other strengths, such as social media content, website updates, photography, or workflow and AI tooling. These are welcome extras, not requirements.

Skills

- Genuine warmth and absolute discretion, with the maturity to handle a service clients consider personal.
- Reliability and punctuality, understood as essential in a small studio where one absence affects every client that day.
- Comfort and confidence treating male bodies, including male intimate area work and the male Brozilian, on every shift rather than occasionally.
- Genuine respect and ease working with trans and non-binary clients, including pre-surgical and post-surgical care. This is central to our practice rather than a niche within it, and the right person will see it as a reason to want the job.
- Strong instincts for hygiene, sanitation, and infection control, with a willingness to follow protocol exactly.
- Clear, patient communication in English, with the ability to explain a treatment plan in plain language.
- Steady hands, good fine motor control, and the physical ability to work seated or standing through a full treatment.

- Attention to detail applied equally to treatment work, cleaning standards, and inventory accuracy.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and build a skill over months rather than days.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.

The following are assets, not requirements:

- An esthetics diploma or certificate from an Ontario college or private career college.
- Any prior experience with laser or IPL, waxing, threading, sugaring, or electrolysis.
- Electrolysis certification, or work toward Certified Professional Electrologist designation.
- A second language.
- Web (Webflow), social media, photography, video, or artificial intelligence and automation skills.
- Retail, hospitality, or customer service background.

No Canadian experience is required. Internationally trained estheticians and electrologists are strongly encouraged to apply, as are recent graduates and people changing careers.

What We Offer

- Paid, hands-on training in laser, waxing and electrolysis from a Certified Professional Electrologist who serves as Vice-Chairperson of the Federation of Canadian Electrolysis Associations.
- A supported path toward electrolysis certification and a long-term skilled trade.
- Additional training in gender-affirming pre-surgical hair removal, offered to successful candidates who want it. Very few practitioners in Toronto are trained for this work, demand for it is steady, and it will follow you for the rest of your career.
- A small, quiet, respectful studio with no sales quotas, no commissions, and no pressure to upsell.
- A predictable part-time schedule, set in advance.
- Free or discounted treatments for staff.

Begin a rewarding career in a trade you can build a life on, in a studio where doing the right thing by the client is the whole business model. Apply through Indeed with your resume and a short note telling us why hair removal interests you. Formal experience is not necessary. Tell us what you would bring. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted within two weeks, and everyone we interview will hear back from us either way. MAIR Care Inc. is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, gender identities and expressions, and we will accommodate applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment process on request.
