We are looking for a reliable, organized, and personable Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our multidisciplinary medical clinic in Kamloops.
Our primary practice, ICDO (Interior Chemical Dependency Office), is an outpatient medical clinic specializing in addiction medicine, providing assessment, treatment, and ongoing medical care for patients with substance use concerns.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a busy medical environment, managing competing priorities, and interacting professionally and compassionately with a diverse patient population.
Responsibilities
Front Desk & Administrative Duties
- Answer and manage incoming phone calls, including message taking and appropriate triage
- Greet and check in patients in a professional and courteous manner
- Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate patient appointments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records
- Process incoming and outgoing faxes, emails, forms, and other correspondence
- Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality
- Provide administrative support to physicians and clinic management
- Assist with general clinic organization and workflow
Clinical Support
- Assist physicians with patient flow and clinical tasks as required
- Collect and document patient vital signs
- Provide basic explanations of clinic procedures within the MOA scope
- Perform point-of-care testing, including:
- Urine drug screening
- BhCG testing
- Urinalysis
- Prepare and label specimens for laboratory processing
- Follow clinic procedures for handling and disposal of biohazardous materials
Clinic Operations
- Maintain clean, organized, and appropriately stocked exam rooms
- Clean and sterilize equipment according to infection-control standards
- Monitor inventory and restock clinic supplies
- Assist with ordering supplies and coordinating with suppliers
- Participate in cross-training across clinic functions

- Communicate professionally, respectfully, and compassionately with patients
- Be comfortable working with patients experiencing substance use and other complex health concerns
- Understand the importance of confidentiality, discretion, and professional boundaries
- Be dependable, punctual, and able to follow through on assigned tasks
- Be able to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
- Demonstrate good judgment and recognize when concerns should be escalated to a physician or manager
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical workplace
- Maintain a professional appearance appropriate for a medical setting
Schedule This is a part-time position averaging approximately 20–30 hours per week.
Regular hours are primarily Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Occasional flexibility may be required depending on physician schedules, including starting before 9:00 AM or remaining after 4:00 PM.
We are looking for someone who is available to start as soon as possible.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
