Youville Home is a compassionate continuing care community offering a broad spectrum of services to support its residents, including an in office nurse practitioner, occupational, physio, and recreation therapy, palliative care, and spiritual support. Functional supervision is provided by a member of the nursing team and may occur directly or indirectly in accordance with client needs, care context, and regulatory standards.
Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team the HCA provides care in alignment with documented care plans and assigned or delegated tasks, delivering assistance with activities of daily living, monitoring and reporting changes in health status, and supporting the physical, emotional, psychosocial and behavioural well being of clients.HCAs attend to clients’ comfort, engagement, and safety by recognizing changes in behaviour, responsiveness, participation, or signs of distress, and by promptly sharing observations with the appropriate team member. They play a vital role in promoting comfort, dignity, and continuity of care, and demonstrate flexibility in responding to the needs of clients and the care team. HCAs actively engage in continuous improvement through feedback, self-reflection, and learning opportunities. The role requires initiative, openness to growth, and a strong commitment to professionalism, responsibility, and accountability. Students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed: 1) a continuing care or medicine unit placement, and 2) either Year 1 of a practical nursing program; or Year 2 of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program may be considered.Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience in Continuing Care.
