Prairie Diagnostic Services Inc. (PDS) is a full-service veterinary diagnostic laboratory located at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. We provide diagnostic testing that supports animal health across Saskatchewan and beyond.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our Microbiology laboratory for a 2-year term. In this role, you will be responsible for sample accessioning, preparation, and disposal, as well as data entry and record management, laboratory housekeeping, and equipment maintenance.

The required knowledge and skills are typically acquired through post-secondary coursework in life sciences and/or relevant work experience.

Typical hours of work are weekdays from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Additional hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required based on operational needs.





As part of the laboratory environment, employees may be exposed to unknown or potentially pathogenic microorganisms. Appropriate training, personal protective equipment and safety protocols are provided. The successful candidates will also be provided with a rabies vaccination as required for the position.
